LEVEL 2 SKI INSTRUCTOR | UKSS

Course Details Image

Snowsport Scotland is the awarding body for all UK Snowsport qualifications (UKSS) in Scotland and offers a full range of courses that will train, assess and license you to become a fully qualified instructor, performance coach or leader.

Once fully completed, the UKSS Level 2 Ski Instructor qualification licenses you to teach the entire spectrum of levels up to parallel and beyond at UK ski centres.

The qualification can not only be used in UK artificial ski centres but it can also be used in Scottish mountain ski resorts, provided you completes an additional 1 day of mountain induction training.

In order to attend this course you must be currently licenced as a UKSS Level 2 Ski Instructor or apply to enter this course via equivalency or APL (accredited prior learning). Contact Snowsport Scotland for further details/requirements for APL by clicking here.

To get the most out of the course, you should be a confident parallel black run skier, comfortable dealing with various conditions and open to change. For example, can you still perform when the weather is bad or the snow is a little firmer/icier than normal? Can you ski more challenging slopes at various speeds or are you only happy in the "supersonic test pilot" range?

Remember, we’re here to help so please feel free to contact us if you have any queries.

Duncan is an awesome trainer! Gets the absolute best out of you all with humour and fun!

Although you should be comfortable working with developing novice skiers, it’s not necessary for you to have any in-depth knowledge or experience of working with advanced skiers. You are required to undertake a little pre-reading and learning to familiarise yourself with the course content and are familiar with the UK Snowsport qualifications framework.

The Level 2 Ski Instructor is a 2 day training course delivered by a Snowsport Scotland appointed Tutor. The course is a minimum of 14 hours in length and scheduled for 7 hours a day. Exact start and finish times depend on the venue but generally commence between 9 and 10am each morning.

At the end of your course you’ll receive a personal development plan (PDP) which provides a focussed framework for further personal and professional development towards your assessment.

Following the course you will be obtaining experience in a working ski school or club to complete a logbook of set tasks before being assessed and approved for licensing.
